Phone Sales Training UK

Phone Sales And Telesales Training For Real UK Sales Calls

For people who sell, book appointments, qualify prospects or develop business by phone, delivered as a practical phone sales course built around real UK sales calls. Better phone selling is not about sounding more scripted. It is about learning how to think, listen, question, respond and move the conversation forward with confidence — on outbound calls, inbound enquiries and the follow-ups in between.

Why Calls Are Different

The Phone Changes The Conversation

★

On a call you lose everything you would normally read from a person: posture, eye contact, the pause before they answer, whether they are interested or simply being polite. What is left carries far more weight.

Tone and pace

Without body language, how you sound is the first thing judged. Rushing signals a pitch; slowing down signals a conversation. Most calls are lost or kept in the first twenty seconds of delivery, not content.

Questioning and listening

You cannot see hesitation, so you have to hear it. That means fewer, better questions, real silence after them, and picking up on what the answer avoids as much as what it says.

Structure and control

A call with no shape drifts into 'send me some information'. Knowing where the conversation is going lets you keep control without talking over the person you are calling.

On The Call

What You Develop On The Phone

★
  • Opening a call without sounding rehearsed, so the first line does not trigger a reflex no
  • Creating interest quickly by leading with something relevant to them rather than to you
  • Asking better questions, and asking fewer of them, so the call is a conversation not an interrogation
  • Listening for what the prospect actually means behind a polite or vague answer
  • Handling brush-offs — 'not interested', 'send an email', 'we're happy as we are' — calmly and honestly
  • Handling genuine objections as information rather than resistance to be overcome
  • Maintaining confidence after rejection so call ten sounds like call one
  • Moving the conversation toward a clear next step instead of a vague maybe
  • Following up without sounding desperate or apologising for calling back
  • Building consistency across repeated calls, days and weeks

Who It Is For

Who This Phone Sales Training Suits

★

Outbound and telesales

Telesales teams, appointment setters, business development representatives and anyone whose day is built around outbound calls and booked appointments.

Inbound and inside sales

Inside-sales teams and people handling inbound sales calls and enquiries who need to qualify properly and convert interest into a firm next step.

Phone as part of the role

Account managers who prospect by phone, field salespeople who use the phone for follow-up, people new to phone sales, and experienced sellers whose call performance is inconsistent.

If your calls are into other businesses, our B2B sales training page covers longer buying cycles and multiple decision makers. If you are developing a whole telesales or phone-selling team, our sales team training page covers consistency across everyone on the phones. If confidence on calls, consistency after rejection and steady performance improvement are the real issue, our sales coaching page covers live feedback and accountability.

Real-World Positioning

Grounded In Real Calls, Not Call Scripts

★

The training is built from real UK selling experience — phone, field and doorstep — and taught live rather than delivered as recorded theory. That means you can bring the calls you are actually making: the ones that stall, the objection you keep getting, the follow-up you are avoiding. Nothing here promises easy calls or guaranteed numbers. The work is learning to think clearly under pressure and to hold the same standard on a difficult call as on an easy one. If you also sell in person, where presence and body language do the work the voice does on a call, our Face-to-Face Sales Training page covers that environment.

How It Is Delivered

Part Of The Real World Sales Foundations Programme

★

Phone sales training is delivered through Real World Sales Foundations, our 6-week live programme. Each week develops the foundations that decide call performance — attitude, confidence, questioning, listening, objection handling, communication, coachability and consistency — and applies them directly to selling by phone. The full week-by-week structure is set out on our UK sales training programme page.

Questions

Phone Sales Training FAQs

★

What is phone sales training?

Phone sales training develops the skills a call actually depends on: how you open, how you ask questions, how you listen when you cannot see the other person, how you handle a brush-off, and how you agree a clear next step. Our training focuses on those behaviours rather than on reading a script.

Is this suitable for telesales teams?

Yes. Telesales teams, appointment setters and inside-sales teams can book places together, and everyone works through the same foundations so the team ends up with a shared standard for how calls are opened, questioned and closed out.

Does the programme teach cold calling?

It covers outbound calling, including how to earn the first thirty seconds, handle early brush-offs honestly, and keep your standard steady across a long call session. It is not a cold-calling script library; the focus is on judgement and structure you can apply to your own list and product.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Yes. If you are new to phone sales you start with the foundations: preparation, openings, questioning, listening and handling the responses that come up most often. Sessions are live, so you can ask about calls you are actually making.

Can experienced salespeople benefit?

Experienced callers usually come in with inconsistency rather than a lack of ability — strong days and flat days. The programme works on the parts that make performance repeatable: structure, questioning discipline, resilience after rejection and follow-up habits.

Does this cover objection handling?

Yes. It separates a brush-off, which is usually a reflex early in a call, from a genuine objection, which is real information. You work on responding honestly to both without pressure tactics and without losing control of the conversation.

Is this only for B2B sales?

No. The foundations apply to both consumer and business calls. If you sell into other businesses, our B2B sales training page covers how the same foundations apply to longer buying cycles and multiple decision makers.

How is the programme delivered?

Phone sales training is delivered through Real World Sales Foundations, a 6-week live programme taught over Zoom with one 90-minute session each week. Sessions are live and interactive rather than pre-recorded, and groups are capped at 20 people. The programme is designed to be experienced live, where the discussion, coaching, questions and interaction happen.

How much does the programme cost?

The Founding Cohort price is £599 per person, available for bookings made before 1 October 2026. The standard programme price is £849. The same £599 per person price applies to individual and team bookings.

Are sessions recorded?

Every live session is recorded, so if you miss a session or want to revisit part of the training, you can catch up using the recording. Recordings will normally be made available within 24–48 hours after each live session. You will have access to the programme recordings throughout the six weeks and for 90 days after the final live session. Programme recordings are for registered participants only and must not be shared or redistributed.

What happens if I miss a live session?

If you miss a live session, you can use the recording to catch up before the following week. The programme is designed to be experienced live wherever possible, but the recordings mean one missed session does not have to leave you behind. If something in the recording raises a question, you can email Roger before the next session. Private one-to-one replacement sessions are not included as standard.

When does the next cohort start?

Founding Cohort places are allocated in booking order. Once your place is secured, your confirmed cohort start date will be sent directly by email with advance notice.
